چکیده

AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of combined anti-inflammatory and local dehydration therapy for CME in children with retinitis pigmentosa or uveitis different etiologies.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included two groups cystic macular edema. In Group 1 developed against background pigmentosa, group 2 uveitis. All underwent subtenon injection a prolonged steroid instillations carbonic anhydrase inhibitors 4 times day. results were evaluated after month.
RESULTS: As part ongoing therapy, all received injections long-acting corticosteroids 4-times/day instillation carboanhydrase inhibitor month. Based on present results, tendency to increase BCVA by 12 lines was noted because those When assessing thickness zone using optical coherence tomography, significant difference recorded relative uveal process responded significantly better therapy. Thus, higher rate resorption demonstrated edema.
CONCLUSION: emphasize importance understanding etiology CME. treatment such should be strictly pathogenetically directed. combination topical is preferred choice due This approach helps reduce cytokine inflammatory reactions, activity process, amount fluid retina. effect photoreceptor decay products weakly affected short-term. Therefore, it worthwhile search other ways normalize profile zone.

Cystoid macular edema

We review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and etiology of cystoid macular edema (CME). Inflammatory, diabetic, post-cataract, and macular edema due to age-related macular degeneration is described. The role of chronic inflammation and hypoxia and direct macular traction is evaluated in each case according to different views from the literature. The different diagnostic methods for evaluating...
